Suter’s NHL career will be over after he was injured during the Avs game against the Pittsburgh Penguins on Tuesday night.
The Avalanche announced Thursday that Suter will miss the game against Buffalo on Wednesday.
He will be replaced by rookie Max Domi, who is currently recovering from a broken ankle.
Suter’s season was over last month after he missed 11 games with a broken left leg.
The injury was aggravated by a collision with Pittsburgh defenseman P.K. Subban on a breakaway attempt and the Avalanche sent him home.
I was in pain and just kind of crying and thinking, “I’m not going to play tomorrow, I can’t play this game,” Suter said.
“I’ve got a broken leg, I’ve got surgery, I’m on a rehab stay and now I’m not playing a game.
After the injury, Suter was sent to the AHL and he hasn’t played since.
He has a fractured fibula, a stress fracture, a broken right ankle, a sprained right ankle and another broken right foot.
Subban suffered a concussion after a collision on a line change against Buffalo and has been sidelined for the past month with a back injury.
He is expected to miss four weeks of action with the Avalanche.
Domi suffered a torn right Achilles tendon in his right foot, but was able to play against Pittsburgh.
He also played in last month’s playoff game against Washington.
